Job summary

Colne Community School in the United Kingdom seeks an outstanding Maths teacher to join our Mathematics department as Second in Charge, with the potential to act up as Head of Maths from mid-2027. The appointment will be for up to one year, after which the role reverts to Second in Charge.

During the acting period, duties and salary will reflect Heads of Maths on the leadership scale (L8-12). We value an aspirational, caring culture and invite proactive staff to contribute to our maths

Qualifications

• Experience teaching in the secondary sector.
• Outstanding classroom practitioner across key stages 3 and 4.
• Ability to lead a team.
• Knowledge of teaching, learning and behaviour management strategies.
• High expectations of self and others.

Responsibilities

• High quality teaching across both key stage 3 and 4.
• To deputise for the Head of Faculty in cases of absence.
• To assist the Head of Faculty with developing the Maths curriculum.
• To improve schemes of learning.
• Promoting the wider aspirations and values of the school.
