Job summary

The Colne Community School is seeking an outstanding Maths teacher to join our Mathematics department as Second in Charge, with the opportunity to act up as Head of Maths from mid-2027. The period includes a handover and a leadership development focus within The Sigma Trust.

You will deliver high-quality KS3/KS4 teaching, deputise for the Head of Faculty in absences, help develop the Maths curriculum, and drive improvements to schemes of learning while upholding our values of Aspiration,

An exceptionally exciting vacancy has arisen at Colne Community School for an outstanding Maths teacher to join our Mathematics department, as a Second in Charge initially, before the opportunity to act up as our Head of Maths faculty. The Head of Maths role would be effective from mid 2027 giving time to adapt and understand Colne Community School. The position will be for up to one year upon which the role will return to Second in Charge.

This unique set of circumstances would be an ideal opportunity for an already established Second in Maths to dip their toes into faculty leadership after spending the Spring Term 2027 immersed in a supportive handover. During the period of acting up your responsibilities and salary would accurately reflect those of a Head of Maths faculty on the leadership scale (L8-12).

• To deputise for the Head of Faculty in cases of absence;
• To assist the Head of Faculty with developing the Maths curriculum;
