Job summary

Colne Community School in the United Kingdom seeks an outstanding Maths teacher to join our Mathematics department as Second in Charge, with the potential to act up as Head of Maths from mid-2027. The appointment will be for up to one year, after which the role reverts to Second in Charge.

During the acting period, duties and salary will reflect Heads of Maths on the leadership scale (L8-12). We value an aspirational, caring culture and invite proactive staff to contribute to our maths

An exceptionally exciting vacancy has arisen at Colne Community School for an outstanding Maths teacher to join our Mathematics department, as a Second in Charge initially, before the opportunity to act up as our Head of Maths faculty. The Head of Maths role would be effective from mid 2027 giving time to adapt and understand Colne Community School. The position will be for up to one year upon which the role will return to Second in Charge.

This unique set of circumstances would be an ideal opportunity for an already established Second in Maths to dip their toes into faculty leadership after spending the Spring Term 2027 immersed in a supportive handover. During the period of acting up your responsibilities and salary would accurately reflect those of a Head of Maths faculty on the leadership scale (L8-12).
