Job summary

Academics in Gloucester is seeking a Psychology Graduate to join their team as an SEN Teaching Assistant. This role supports children with Autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and SEMH to access the curriculum.

You will work one-to-one and in small groups, helping with learning and emotional wellbeing while developing skills in behaviour management, communication, and child development. This is an excellent stepping stone for Educational Psychology or related fields, with ASAP start.

Qualifications

• A degree in Psychology (or closely related subject).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, empathetic and resilient approach.
• Ability to stay calm and adaptable in a dynamic school environment in Gloucester.
• Experience with children or young people is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small group support for pupils with additional needs.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated learning activities.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and social interaction.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours.
• Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and the wider school team.
