Job summary

Roundthorn Country House in Penrith, Cumbria, invites applications for a Level 2 Commis Chef Apprenticeship. You will work 30 hours per week and earn £8.00 per hour, with a pay increase after one year for those aged 19+.

Duration is 15 months and the role includes online and in-person training supported by a dedicated tutor. You will assist with food preparation, follow recipes, and contribute to weddings, banquets and hotel dining.

Qualifications

• Desirable GCSEs in English and Maths (A*–C)

Responsibilities

• Assist chefs with food preparation and cooking
• Learn and follow recipes, menus and portion specifications
• Prepare vegetables, meat, fish and other ingredients
• Help create food for weddings, banquets, private functions and hotel dining
• Assist with plating and presentation
• Keep the kitchen, equipment and workstations clean and organised
• Learn and follow food hygiene, health and safety and allergen procedures
• Store and handle food safely and correctly
• Work as part of Banquet Country's wider kitchen and hotel team
• Build your skills and take on more responsibility as you progress
