Job summary

Compass Group UK & Ireland is inviting applications for an Apprentice Chef in Glasgow. This full-time role will see you working 40 hours per week under the Head Chef, with comprehensive on‑the‑job training and progression to Production Chef L2/L3 after completion of the apprenticeship.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in a high-volume catering environment, with structured training, a supportive team, and career development opportunities across SEC venues in Glasgow.

Qualifications

• Experience in a professional kitchen (min 1 year)
• Strong understanding of kitchen operations and food safety
• Willingness to learn and gain formal qualifications

Responsibilities

• Create exceptional food experiences by preparing, cooking and presenting dishes to a high standard
• Champion food safety, hygiene and safe working practices at all times
• Prepare ingredients and dishes to specification while following quality standards
• Help minimise food waste and manage ingredients carefully
• Work collaboratively with chefs during busy service periods
• Stay calm under pressure and adapt to changing menus and kitchen setups
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked and welcoming kitchen environment
• Support as a role model, coaching new team members as they develop their skills
