Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting an ASD Behaviour Mentor to support students with autism in Feltham and surrounding areas. You will provide one-to-one and small group assistance, building trusting relationships and applying strategies to aid communication, regulation, and learning.

You’ll collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and families to implement individual support plans, monitor progress, and promote positive behaviours within the school environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with autism or SEND is desirable
  • Experience in education, behaviour support, care, youth work, mentoring, or similar is beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with ASD
  • Build positive, trusting, and consistent relationships with students
  • Support students with emotional regulation and managing challenging situations
  • Help students understand and manage triggers that may affect their behaviour
  • Encourage positive behaviour and reinforce clear and consistent boundaries
  • Support students with communication and social interaction
  • Help students develop confidence, resilience, independence, and self-regulation
  • Use appropriate strategies to support students with sensory needs and emotional dysregulation
  • Encourage positive engagement with learning and school life
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and families where appropriate
  • Follow individual support plans and agreed behaviour strategies
  • Monitor behaviour, engagement, wellbeing, and progress and provide feedback to relevant staff
  • Support students during lessons, transitions, break times, and other unstructured periods
  • Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times

ASD Behaviour Mentor

Are you a patient, resilient, and empathetic individual passionate about supporting young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and helping them overcome barriers to learning?

Milk Education is currently recruiting enthusiastic ASD Behaviour Mentor in Felthamand the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in education, SEND, care, youth work, mentoring, or support work who are passionate about helping young people develop confidence, independence, and positive behaviours.

The Role

As an ASD Behaviour Mentor, you will provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to students with autism who may experience challenges with communication, emotional regulation, social interaction, sensory processing, and behaviour.

You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and other professionals to understand individual needs and implement consistent support strategies. Your role will focus on building trusting relationships, reducing barriers to learning, and helping students develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive in school.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking ASD Behaviour Mentors who:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with autism or additional needs
  • Are calm, patient, empathetic, and consistent in their approach
  • Understand that every autistic young person has individual strengths, needs, and communication styles
  • Can build strong and trusting relationships with students
  • Are confident supporting emotional regulation and challenging behaviour
  • Have a nurturing and non-judgemental approach
  • Understand the importance of clear boundaries and consistency
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Are resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations
  • Are passionate about helping young people reach their potential
Requirements
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with ASD/SEND is desirable
  • Experience in education, behaviour support, care, youth work, mentoring, or similar is beneficial
  • Knowledge of autism, sensory needs, communication difficulties, or emotional regulation is advantageous
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • A patient, adaptable, and non-judgemental approach
