Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting ASD Behaviour Mentors to support secondary schools across Gateshead and surrounding areas. You will provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to students on the autism spectrum.

You will work with teachers, SENCOs and families to understand needs, implement supportive strategies, and help students develop confidence, independence and positive behaviours.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with autism or SEND.
• Calm, patient, empathetic and consistent in approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with ASD.
• Build trusting relationships with students and staff.
• Support emotional regulation and manage challenging behaviour.
• Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times.
• Work with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams and families where appropriate.
