The Scottish Ambulance Service in Scotland is seeking an Area Service Manager (AfC Band 7) in the West Region. The post leads teams within Scheduled and Emergency/Unscheduled Care, delivering improvements and contributing to regional performance targets.

You will require strong leadership, budgeting and project management experience, plus stakeholder engagement and IT literacy. A management qualification is desirable and a full driving licence is required. On-call duties are included.

Have you ever thought about continuing your management career in Scottish Ambulance Service? Are you looking for a challenging management role where no two days are the same? Some exciting opportunities have arisen for a pivotal role in service delivery based within the West Region, as an Area Service Manager.

This managerial post will play a critical role in the achievement of the West Region’s performance targets and the ongoing development of our continuous improvement agenda. The post holder will assume an important role within the management structure for the West Region with responsibility for teams within both Scheduled and Emergency/Unscheduled Care Services. In addition, the post holder will be expected to provide management support at operational incidents as required and participate in the Regional On-Call arrangements.

Ideal candidates will possess the drive and enthusiasm to deliver results proactively and reactively and understand the key issues and challenges facing Scottish Ambulance Service. It is essential that you possess excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, organisational and analytical skills along with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines. You should be able to demonstrate strong leadership and the ability to build, develop, motivate, mentor and lead teams.

You must evidence relevant experience in a management, supervisory or leadership role and have experience of stakeholder engagement. Previous experience of managing budgets, project management, involvement in managing change, working with internal/external partners, and implementing local delivery plans would be advantageous. As would the achievement of or working towards a management qualification.

You must be committed to improving quality and standards of care, have an openness to new organisational structures, procedures and technology and support cultural change. You must also be IT literate and possess a full driving licence.
