Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Healthcare Support Worker based at Ward 2, Woodland View, Ayrshire Central Hospital. This post is offered on a permanent basis.

Hours:
  • 2 posts at 34.50 hours per week
  • 1 post at 23.00 hours per week

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

What you will do:

Ward 2 is a 30 bedded ward for older adults who require complex NHS care, palliative care or end of life care. You must have a genuine interest in the rehabilitation process and be pro-active in achieving best outcomes for our patients. Experience in providing care for older people is desirable but not essential. Good communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team are essential.

You should have excellent communication skills, have the enthusiasm and ability to provide therapeutic interventions to enhance the rehabilitation process by providing person-centered goals and individual care for each patient.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required for this post:
  • SVQ3 in Healthcare related subject and / or equivalent knowledge gained in a relevant area through experience
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Understand the role of the ward
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Awareness of relevant legislation, policies, standards, best practice statements, guidelines and capability frameworks
  • Evidence of personal development and willingness to undertake appropriate training
