Job summary

Mitchell Maguire is recruiting for an Area Sales Manager – Glass to cover Scotland, the North East and Cumbria. You will drive field sales for a range of glass products to fabricators, installers and merchants, maintaining about 250 customers and contributing to an £8m regional turnover.

The role blends 70% account management with 30% new business development, requires construction sector sales experience in related industries, and offers a fully expensed hybrid company car and benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must have construction field sales experience in an associated industry (glass, glazing, windows, fenestration, profiles, glass processing, glass machinery) or equivalent.
• Ability to generate new business while managing a portfolio of approx. 250 customers.
• Proven track record in hitting targets and expanding account base.

The role of the Area Sales Manager - Glass Products will involve:

• Field sales position selling a manufactured range of glass products such as: flat glass, processed glass and toughened glass
• Selling into the construction, glazing and architectural markers
• Targeting various fabricators and installers (not selling directly to the contractors that carry out the project work - one stage removed from that!)
• Typically selling to metalwork companies, joinery companies, window manufacturers, trade window companies, furniture manufacturers, shop-fitters, interior fit-out companies and a smaller element of dealing with merchants who will cut the flat glass down to size for window and door fabricators and small glazing retailers
• Circa 250 customers on the area
• 70% account management 30% new business development
• Responisible for an area with a turnover of approx. £8m

The ideal applicant will be an Area Sales Manager - Glass Products experience with:

• Must have construction field sales experience in an associated industry
• Ideally from a glass, glazing, windows, fenestration, profiles, glass processing, glass machinery background
• If not glazing related you must have sold into fabricators or metalwork companies, joinery companies, window manufacturers, trade window companies, furniture manufacturers, shop-fitters or interior fit-out companies
• Must have the tenacity to generate new business relationships
