Job summary

BardWood Support Services is seeking an Area Relief Officer to provide day-to-day security across Caerphilly, Cardiff, Blackwood, and Abertillery. You will ensure safety and security for staff and visitors, working a day shift from 08:45 to 17:15, with a smart, professional presence on-site.

The role requires an SIA license, a full UK driving license, and a 5-year checkable work history. It offers a site-based, client-facing environment with clear responsibilities and opportunities to progress

Qualifications

• SIA License is required.

• Prior customer-facing experience is preferred.
• Physically fit and able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Provide relief cover to multiple locations within the region.
• Adhere to site operation guidance and safety protocols.
• Maintain a safe environment for staff and customers.
• Offer a proactive presence and provide directional guidance.
• Resolve conflicts at client premises when they arise.
• Ensure public areas comply with site rules and guidance.
• Maintain a smart, visible security presence on-site.
• Administer First Aid if needed (training provided).
• Complete legible incident reports when incidents occur.

About the role:

Title – Area Relief Officer

Pay Rate – £13.45 per hour

Location – Caerphilly, Cardiff, Blackwood and Abertillery

Shift Timings – Day shifts - Monday-Friday: 08:45-17:15, ARO to cover Caerphilly, Cardiff, Blackwood and Abertillery

You will be working in a site-based role within the public sector, where officers are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of both staff and visitors.

Your main responsibilities may include:

• Trained to provide relief cover and support to a portfolio of locations within a geographical region.
• All the tasks and activities as per the site operational guidance and Assignment Instructions. Provide quality service delivery.
• Manage and maintain a safe environment for the client’s staff and customers.
• Provide a proactive presence in all public facing areas as activity requires. This will include providing a positive initial reception for clients and directional guidance.
• Working directly with the customer as part of a team to provide conflict resolution at our client’s premises where there is potential for conflict.
• Working closely with your fellow colleagues to ensure members of the public comply with site rules and guidance.
• Use common sense and initiative immediately involving others if a situation becomes threatening.
• To have a smart appearance, always be alert and visible whilst commanding a security presence within the customer premises
• Be able to administer First Aid assistance if a member of public or client’s staff was to be suddenly taken unwell (training will be provided)
• Complete legible incident report writing if and when an incident arises.
• Work to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for everyone.

To succeed in this role, you will need the following:

• SIA License.
• Full UK driving license.
• 5-year checkable work/career history.
• Full driving license and access to own transport is essential.
• Prior experience of working in a customer-facing environment and dealing directly with staff/customers.
• Physically fit to undertake given tasks.
• Possess the ability to work under pressure.
• Flexible attitude and the ability to adapt.
• Security and operational system competence
