We are looking for talented Technicians who are passionate about building design, construction technology, and digital workflows to contribute to the delivery of our projects and creating beautiful drawings and exceptional buildings.

About the role

You will work in the Manchester Studio, which has consistently been recognised for its long track record of delivering exceptional buildings, and has received more RIBA Awards than any other North West practice. Our culture of design excellence is embedded into the studio with project presentations, design and brews, and tech-tables which all encourage everyone to participate in developing high-quality buildings.

You will have the opportunity to work on the design and delivery of several exciting and innovative projects, and to work closely with our multi-disciplinary design teams. We are looking for enthusiastic and talented Technicians to support our teams, contributing to delivering technically excellent buildings, producing clear design documentation, and creating beautiful drawings.

There are opportunities for you to learn from our experienced team, develop your career, and work on high-profile projects

About us

BDP is a leading, global, multidisciplinary design practice united by a shared purpose: to design a world that’s built for good. For more than 60 years, we've been solving problems, creating innovative spaces, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. From the start, we've been pioneers in the world of design, and our legacy is built on the meaningful, people-centred places we've brought to life.

We are a diverse, international practice of architects, engineers, designers, and urbanists. We work closely with our clients, users, and communities to craft spaces for living, working, learning, and enjoying life across the globe. With studios spanning the UK, Ireland, Europe, Asia, and North America, our reach is as broad as our expertise. And since joining forces with Japan’s Nippon Koei in 2016, our ability to deliver integrated, impactful design has only grown stronger.

Our work is rooted in creativity, quality, and collaboration. We believe that great design removes barriers and opens new possibilities, all while meeting the demands of a constantly evolving world. Whether we’re designing homes, workplaces, or public spaces, we always put people at the heart of our thinking, ensuring that the environments we create are not just functional, but also inclusive, beautiful, and socially and environmentally responsible.

We’re proud of the places we've shaped and the lives we've touched, and we are committed to continuing our mission of designing a better, more connected world, one that leaves every place better than we found it. Our work is shaped by a genuine commitment to low-carbon design and places that serve communities equitably.

Our founder, Professor Sir George Grenfell Baines, envisioned designing sustainable, inclusive, and resilient spaces that enrich communities and the environment. With 60 years of leaving the world better than we found it, this progressive vision for the world is also how we run as a business. We don’t just design for inclusion; we are naturally inclusive. We work closely with local communities, and create a workplace where employee feedback is valued, all to drive real change.

About you

You will be an Architectural Technician who is passionate about architecture, with excellent technical and software skills who can work collaboratively and productively in design teams, working on live projects up to completion. Whether you're newly qualified or well established in your career, we are looking for someone who can enhance our studio culture, and we can help you to develop your technical skills and knowledge with opportunities to work in multiple sectors and through mentoring from more senior staff.

Ideally, you will be driven and enthusiastic individual, keen to learn more about an integrated design approach, digital design, and delivery of high-quality projects. You will have a good range of project delivery experience, a solid understanding of legislative compliance, Health and Safety along with hands-on technical and software skills, including Revit and NBS Chorus.

CIAT membership or an ambition to work towards chartership is desirable but not essential to be considered for this role.
