Job summary

NHS Jobs in Coventry is seeking an Apprenticeship and Employability Officer to be the first point of contact for enquiries, guiding on apprenticeships, work experience, and employability development opportunities across the Trust. You will take action, resolve non-routine queries, and liaise with colleagues as required.

You will support the Widening Participation Manager to promote the NHS as a career option to young people, develop Traineeship Programmes, deliver sessions and workshops,

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for enquiries and provide guidance on Apprenticeships, work experience, employability, development opportunities and all other learning and development activities.
• Take action as necessary and liaise with colleagues where required; dealing with non-routine queries and problem solving.
• Support the Widening participation manager in establishing Traineeship Programmes to the Trust to promote the health service as a career option to young people and provide a pipeline of apprentice recruits for employers.
• Deliver support sessions/workshops in relation to apprenticeships opportunities.
• Maintain both manual and electronic filing systems and databases, ensuring all documents are accurately archived.
• Produce short reports and present recommendations and possible solutions.
• Provide basic career advice on how to get in, and get on, and describe the variety of career pathways to staff and members of the public.
• Support in maintaining partnerships with Local Schools and Further Education Providers; support creating an annual programme of opportunities to widen participation.
• Assist with developing and delivering a directory of methods for staff to improve their functional skills, including IT.
• Continuously review Standard Operating Procedures and ensure intranet is up to date for the area of work.
• Assist in recruiting Health Ambassadors to train and work with partners to support events encouraging NHS careers.
• Attend and advise at events, workshops, and training sessions to promote working in the NHS.
• Communicate and promote Apprenticeship Strategy to NHS staff and encourage learning on the job.
• Help to develop expansion of apprenticeships across the Trust and organise an annual programme of work experience and apprenticeship programmes.
• Assist in identifying new vacancies and persuade Trust managers to recruit an apprentice.
• Provide pastoral support to apprentices from interview date through their apprenticeships and manage difficult conversations.
• Ensure the quality of apprenticeship provision in terms of success, retention and progression; liaise with apprenticeship providers; evaluate impact of placements.
• Collate information in preparation for evaluation to assess the impact of placements; assist in facilitating employability programmes and increasing internal placements as a recruitment tool.
