Job summary

VolkerFitzpatrick is recruiting for an Apprentice Site Engineer to join the Site Operations Team. You will study towards a Civil Engineering Apprenticeship one day a week at university and work four days a week on site, gaining hands-on experience across highways, rail and building services.

You will learn to set out works under supervision, follow HSEQ policies, undertake materials sampling, and support the delivery of projects while lodging away from home if required.

Qualifications

Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship - Civil Engineering.
A Level Maths and Science are required.
UCAS points targets vary by qualification route.
Five GCSEs including Maths and English or equivalent.

Responsibilities

Assist Site Engineers with accurate setting out and control of works under supervision.
Support health and safety, quality, environmental and sustainability policies on site.
Gain experience in materials sampling and testing and on-site tasks.
Perform duties assigned by line manager to benefit the site.

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma DD in Engineering (Merit in Maths & Further Maths)

BTEC Level 3 National Diploma DD in Engineering (Merit in Maths & Further Maths)

Job description

As the Apprentice Site Engineer, you will be an integral member of the Site Operations Team, who are responsible for the effective and efficient running of the site throughout the delivery of the project. You will study towards a Civil Engineering Apprenticeship one day a week at university and work four days a week on site.

Understand and comply with Company Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental and Sustainability Systems and Policies
Provide assistance to the Site Engineers in the accurate setting out and control of the works, taking every opportunity to undertake setting out under the supervision of their Section/Senior Engineer
Gain experience of Company HSEQ systems and participate in tasks that are described
Gain experience in materials sampling and testing
Any other duties assigned by your line manager for the benefit of the site
A passion for construction
Must hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
Must be willing to lodge away from home during the working week, where required, due to project location (if you need to lodge then we have a subsistence policy in place)

Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship - Civil Engineering BSc (Hons)

A Level BBC - Must include Maths and preferably a Science in either Chemistry or Physics (UCAS points: 112)
T-level (Merit or above) in Construction: Design, Surveying and Planning. (UCAS points: 120)
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma DDM in an Engineering subject area, with a minimum of merit in Mathematics and Further Mathematics. (UCAS points: 128)
BTEC Level 3 National Diploma DD in an Engineering subject area, with a minimum of merit in Mathematics and Further Mathematics. (UCAS points: 112)
Civil Engineering Technician level 3 apprenticeship DD (UCAS points: 96) alongside grade Pass or Distinction at EPA
Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A-C including Maths and English or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above). Some universities require grade 5 maths minimum.

You will be enrolled on the level 4 apprenticeship and progress to the degree apprenticeship on an advanced entry option.
