Job summary

VolkerFitzpatrick is seeking an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor to assist the Quantity Surveyor, Project Surveyor, or Senior Surveyor. The role involves attending site four days a week and one day per week for a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in Quantity Surveying, with a start date in August 2027.

Essential criteria include a driving licence and willingness to lodge away from home during the week due to project locations. The role is part of VolkerWessels UK under VolkerFitzpatrick.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
• Willing to lodge away from home during the working week due to project location.
• Apprenticeship path to Degree Apprenticeship – Chartered Surveyor.
• Entry criteria include A Levels/ BTEC/ Access to HE qualifications and UCAS points.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surveying team as required.
• Ensure you are aware of your roles and responsibilities with particular reference to VolkerFitzpatrick’s commercial interests.
• Help to maximise staff morale.
• Ensure you effectively and appropriately communicate between members of staff where required.
• Attend regular internal meetings and ensure actions are closed out quickly.

Job description

VolkerFitzpatrick offers a range and depth of civil engineering, infrastructure and building services. We contribute to vital parts of the nation’s life through projects of strategic importance, while delivering those less visible, yet essential, works required by both private and public sectors. We build, renew, maintain highways, airports, railway infrastructure, and commercial, industrial and educational buildings.

Reporting to the Quantity Surveyor/Project Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor, the Apprentice Quantity Surveyor is required to assist the Quantity Surveyor, Project Surveyor or Senior Surveyor in their duties. The Apprentice QS will attend site 4 days a week and study 1 day a week for an apprenticeship in Quantity Surveying.

Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship – Chartered Surveyor BSc (Hons)

• A Level BBB or;
• BTEC National Diploma DDM or;
• Access to HE qualifications with 24 Distinctions 21 Merits or;
• Equivalent level 3 qualifications worth 128 UCAS points
• Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A-C including Maths and English or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above).
• At least 112 UCAS Tariff points

If you are successful but don’t meet the above entry criteria then we have options to enrol on the level 4 apprenticeship and progress you to the degree apprenticeship on an advanced entry option.
