Job description

Job Title: Apprentice Service Technician

Reports to: Site Engineering Manager

Location: Middlewich - Cheshire

Introduction to Role

Vanderlande is the market leader in efficient logistics process automation within the airports, warehousing, and parcel sector.

This role involves joining a small team of experienced engineers to support a major UK airline with their retail operations.

The business ensures outbound flights have the retail stock onboard to ensure customer satisfaction and processes returned stock. To achieve this, they have invested heavily in automated warehousing solutions from Vanderlande, and maintaining this equipment safely, efficiently, and to a high standard is the responsibility of the onsite Vanderlande team.

Role Responsibilities

You will be supported to achieve an NVQ Level 3 at a local college in your first year. Apprentices will work towards completing an NVQ Foundation, BTEC Level 3 in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering, and NVQ Level 3 in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering (Mechatronics Maintenance Technician). This program is accredited via End Point Assessment by iMechE (EngTech).

Afterward, you will continue your learning at the customer’s site.

The Apprentice Service Technician will perform maintenance duties to ensure productivity, equipment availability, health & safety compliance, and quality. Your tasks will include:

• Complying with all health and safety rules and regulations.
• Maintaining the condition of various installations.
• Performing malfunction and maintenance work, including preventive and periodic maintenance, in collaboration with colleagues.
• Resolving mechanical, electrical, and control technical faults.

Role Qualifications and Skills

As an Apprentice Service Technician, your contribution to customer satisfaction is vital, with the continuity of the customer process being central. You should have an enthusiastic, proactive attitude and be flexible.

Preferred qualifications and attributes include:

• Five A*-C or 9-4 grade GCSEs, including Maths and English.
• An interest in engineering.
• An enthusiastic and motivated attitude.
