Job summary

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is offering a unique 36-month Therapeutic Radiographer Apprenticeship in central London. You will train with the Radiotherapy Department, studying the Level 6 BSc (Hons) Therapeutic Radiography Degree Apprenticeship with the University of Hertfordshire and work closely with multidisciplinary teams.

The programme combines extensive workplace learning with academic study, leading to HCPC registration.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths at A-C/4-9 or Functional Skills at Level 2
  • Must not hold Level 6 or higher qualification in Therapeutic Radiography or related field
  • Must not be in any other form of education (no school/college/university/other apprenticeships)

Job description

This is a unique 36-month Therapeutic Radiographer Apprenticeship opportunity to work and train within the Radiotherapy Department at University College Hospital London, in the heart of central London. You will complete the Level 6 BSc (Hons) Therapeutic Radiography Degree Apprenticeship with the University of Hertfordshire. The role involves direct contact with patients and their families, alongside working closely with medical, nursing, physics and wider multidisciplinary teams., The candidate will be trained to undertake a wide range of clinical experiences within Therapeutic Radiography, developing the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours required to deliver safe, compassionate and high-quality radiotherapy care. Training will include opportunities to work across the radiotherapy pathway, including CT simulation, treatment planning, treatment delivery and image-guided radiotherapy, as well as gaining experience with a range of specialist radiotherapy techniques and technologies. Please note: recruitment is a two-stage process Stage 1: Group assessment date - 28 September 2026 in the morning Stage 2:Individual interview date - 28 September 2026 in the afternoon, if successful in the assessment stage Applicants must not already hold a qualification at Level 6 or above in Therapeutic Radiography or a closely related subject. Applicants must not be in any other form of education - this includes, school, college, university or any other apprenticeship programme. Please ensure that you can make this date before applying. Upon completion of the three-year course, they will gain a BSc Honours in Therapeutic Radiography and be eligible for professional registration with the HCPC. This fully funded programme allows the applicant to study and earn a wage at the same time, with extensive workplace learning and practice, supported by academic learning at the University and through distance learning, and self-study. UCLH are looking for candidates who are flexible, adaptable and patient focussed, aiming to deliver the highest standards of clinical care. They will work alongside experienced Therapeutic Radiographers and the wider multidisciplinary team, developing skills in patient care, communication, anatomy, physiology, radiotherapy physics and radiation protection. As their knowledge and confidence develop, they will take increasing responsibility for delivering treatment safely and effectively, supported by experienced clinical staff.
