Job description
Level 3 Childcare & Education Apprenticeship

We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our nurturing early years team as a Level 3 Childcare and Education Apprentice. This role is ideal for someone who is already Level 2 qualified and looking to progress, or who holds GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics and is passionate about supporting young children to thrive.

You will work alongside experienced practitioners in a warm, welcoming environment where children’s wellbeing, learning and development are at the heart of everything we do.

Apprenticeship Summary
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, shifts between 7.30am and 6.00pm
  • Total hours: 43.75 hours per week
  • Duration: 12 months
  • Apprenticeship level: Level 3 – Childcare and Education
Key Responsibilities
Childcare & Education
  • Provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care to all children
  • Ensure the environment, resources and experiences offered are of the highest quality
  • Support planning in line with the EYFS, including rich and varied outdoor learning opportunities
  • Follow and maintain accurate daily planning and children’s developmental records
  • Build positive partnerships with parents and carers, supporting open communication
  • Ensure inductions for new children are welcoming and adapted to individual needs
  • Promote inclusive practice, supporting children with special educational needs
  • Maintain safeguarding standards and demonstrate a strong understanding of child protection
  • Meet children’s nutritional needs and comply with Food Safety Regulations
  • Carry out key person responsibilities, building strong relationships with children and families
  • Support children’s smooth transitions between rooms and involve parents in the process
  • Encourage children to spend as much time as possible outdoors
  • Keep up to date with current childcare policy and best practice
  • Support children’s progress by identifying and closing gaps in learning
Health & Safety
  • Share responsibility for health, safety and cleanliness throughout the nursery
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, including nappy changing, bedding and food areas
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Understand and follow emergency and security procedures at all times
  • Report maintenance, safety or cleaning issues promptly
Operational & Team Responsibilities
  • Promote the nursery positively to parents and prospective families
  • Support managers and room leaders during inspections and implementation of recommendations
  • Reflect on your own practice to support continuous personal and professional development
  • Support colleagues, students and new staff through induction and daily duties
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting good practice and teamwork
  • Demonstrate effective time management and organisational skills
  • Support staff wellbeing, motivation and collaboration
General Duties
  • Carry out additional duties as reasonably requested by management
  • Handle parent concerns with confidence, escalating appropriately when needed
  • Adhere to all nursery policies and procedures
  • Participate in training, meetings, events and occasional out-of-hours activities
  • Assist with general nursery duties such as snack preparation and equipment cleaning
  • Take an active role in supervision, appraisals and target setting
  • Work effectively as part of a team while developing your own skills
Requirements & Prospects
Essential Qualifications
  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Mathematics (or equivalent)
  • Must already be Level 2 qualified or meet GCSE requirements for the apprenticeship
