Job summary

Sodexo at Sevenoaks School is seeking an Apprentice Commis Chef who will earn on the job while learning. You’ll work in a busy professional kitchen, help prepare and serve meals for pupils and staff, and gain hands‑on experience toward a nationally recognised qualification.

You'll train under experienced chefs, follow food hygiene standards, and develop a range of cooking techniques. This paid apprenticeship offers structured training and career progression within Sodexo.

Qualifications

• No previous catering experience necessary, full training will be provided.
• A genuine passion for food and cooking.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation, cooking, and presentation of high quality meals.
• Learn a range of cooking techniques and kitchen skills from experienced chefs.
• Support food preparation for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and hospitality events.
• Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness.
• Assist with stock rotation, storage, and delivery checks.
• Help ensure all dietary requirements and allergen procedures are followed.
• Work collaboratively as part of a busy and professional kitchen team.
• Participate fully in apprenticeship training, assessments, and reviews.
