Job summary

Shrewsbury School, on behalf of Sodexo, is seeking a Commis Chef to join a busy kitchen on a 40-hour week. The role involves supporting the kitchen team, preparing and presenting meals for pupils, staff and visitors, and upholding food safety standards.

You will work either 7:00am–3:00pm or 12:00pm–8:00pm, with a 5-day pattern including weekend on weekend off. Full training and protective uniform are provided, plus various wellbeing and development benefits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support the kitchen team in preparing and serving high-quality meals for pupils, staff and visitors.
• Assist with food preparation, cooking and presentation to ensure meals are consistently high quality.
• Help maintain standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen.
• Replenish food and equipment to ensure a smooth, efficient service.
• Deliver friendly and professional customer service.
• Support catering for school events, functions and hospitality services when required.
• Work closely with colleagues to create a positive team environment.
• Follow all company policies, procedures and health and safety regulations.
• Report issues or concerns promptly to management.
• Undertake training and development opportunities to grow culinary skills.
