Job summary

Lock & Larder in Gunthorpe is seeking a Commis Chef Apprentice to join the kitchen brigade. You will learn under experienced chefs, gaining hands-on experience from preparation to plating.

This apprenticeship offers structured training, exposure to a Gastro Pub kitchen, and a chance to build a solid foundation in professional cookery while developing hygiene and stock management skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and cooking according to Head Chef's specifications.
• Learn fundamental cooking techniques including sauces, vegetable preparation, and basic butchery.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety within the kitchen at all times.
• Undertake stock control, including receiving, storing, and rotating ingredients.
• Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including equipment, surfaces, and waste disposal.
• Support the team during busy service periods and assist with event preparation and execution.
• Develop an understanding of food labelling and allergen information.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
