Job summary

Drew Forsyth & Co in the UK is seeking an Apprentice CNC Operator to join our family-owned workshop and start a career in bespoke furniture manufacturing.

No prior CNC experience is required; you will train with an experienced CNC programmer, learn to load programs, set tools, check quality, and grow your responsibilities as you develop.

We offer flexible hours (4-day or 5-day weeks), fully funded training, and clear opportunities to progress within a growing British manufacturer.

Looking to start a career in manufacturing? No previous CNC experience is needed – just a willingness to learn!

Drew Forsyth & Co is a family-owned manufacturer of bespoke furniture, including luxury kitchens, bedrooms, cinema rooms and home offices.

We have supplied furniture throughout the UK for nearly 60 years. As our company continues to grow, we are looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice CNC Operator to join our machine shop and developing CNC department.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to learn a skilled trade and build a long-term career in furniture manufacturing.

You don't need any previous experience. We will provide training and support to help you develop the skills needed to become a confident CNC Operator.

We currently operate three CNC machines, including 3-axis and nesting machinery, alongside specialist door machinery and an edgebander.

You will work alongside an experienced CNC programmer who will help you learn how to operate machinery, understand CNC processes and develop your technical skills.

What you will be learning

As an Apprentice CNC Operator, you will receive training in:

• Operating CNC machinery safely and confidently.
• Loading and running CNC programs.
• Setting tools and changing cutters.
• Understanding how CNC machines work.
• Checking the quality and accuracy of machined components.
• Identifying and reporting machining or quality issues.
• Carrying out basic machine maintenance.
• Keeping machinery and surrounding work areas clean, organised and productive.
• Working alongside the CNC programmer and wider production team.
• Learning additional machinery and manufacturing processes as your skills develop.

You will gradually take on more responsibility as you gain experience and confidence.

What we are looking for

An interest in engineering, woodworking, machinery or manufacturing would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Your attitude and willingness to learn are more important to us than previous experience.

Working hours

We can offer either:

• 4-day working week – 38 hours
• 5-day working week – 40 hours

The working pattern can be discussed during the initial conversation.
