Job summary

Brookhaven School is offering an apprenticeship to start a career in school administration. The program covers day-to-day office operations and practical qualifications, with mentoring from experienced colleagues and development opportunities within a values-driven Trust.

You will gain hands-on experience in pupil and staff data management, communications, and general administration while working Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm, for approximately 1 year and 6 months.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and IT skills are essential.
  • Attention to detail and organisational abilities are required.
  • Good numerical skills and administrative competencies are necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day running of the school office.
  • Enter and update pupil, staff and school data on admin systems.
  • Answer telephone calls and take messages.
  • Greet visitors, parents and external professionals professionally.
  • Manage emails and correspondence.
  • File, scan, and distribute documents.
  • Assist with letters, reports and school communications.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases.
  • Support attendance and admissions administration processes.
  • Order and monitor office supplies and resources.
  • Assist with diary management and meeting arrangements.
  • Provide admin support to staff, pupils and families as required.

What You'll Do
  • Supporting the day-to-day running of the school office
  • Entering and updating pupil, staff and school data on administrative systems
  • Answering telephone calls and taking messages
  • Greeting visitors, parents and external professionals in a professional manner
  • Managing incoming and outgoing emails
  • Filing, scanning, photocopying and distributing documents
  • Assisting with the preparation of letters, reports and school communications
  • Maintaining accurate records and databases
  • Supporting attendance and admissions administration processes
  • Ordering and monitoring office supplies and resources
  • Assisting with diary management and meeting arrangements
  • Providing administrative support to staff, pupils and families as required
Training Outcome
  • On completion you can progress into permanent role as an Administrator or progress on to another higher-level apprenticeship
