Job summary

Amcor is recruiting an apprenticeship trainer to assess and train engineering apprentices across Beccles, Blackburn, and Oakham. You will ensure delivery complies with course standards and external partners, including Ofsted and awarding bodies, while safeguarding and motivating learners.

The role involves creating lesson plans, supporting CPD, and participating in quality audits. Some travel to other Amcor sites and external events is expected. DBS check required.

Qualifications

  • A relevant engineering qualification or willingness to work towards Level 2 and 3 qualifications.
  • Previous training delivery experience is desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willing to travel to other sites and work flexibly; full driving licence is essential.
  • Must undertake a DBS check.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Engineering knowledge and behaviours training aligned to apprenticeship standards for Levels 2 and 3.
  • Develop lesson plans, schemes of work, and teaching materials with current staff.
  • Coach and mentor apprentices to keep them engaged and progressing.

Job description

Amcor has three apprenticeship academies, based in Beccles, Suffolk, Blackburn Lancashire and Oakham, Rutland, specialising in Engineering and Polymer apprenticeships and training. We are looking to recruit a trainer to assess and train apprentices. The trainer will ensure delivery and compliance with the relevant course standards and external partners, including Ofsted and the awarding bodies. They will ensure apprentices are safeguarded, nurtured and motivated to learn in a proactive and positive environment. The successful candidate will be supported and trained, and will integrate with the current team of assessors and trainers.,

  • Deliver Engineering knowledge, skills and behaviours training, in line with the defined apprenticeship standards prescribed by the awarding body for Levels 2 and 3.
  • Work with current staff on the creation and development of lesson plans, schemes of work, teaching materials and resources for the delivery sessions.
  • Proactive in supporting students by coaching and mentoring to ensure learners are engaged and committed to completing the course.
  • Creates an inclusive environment allowing for equality diversity and inclusion, being supportive to all learners including those with additional needs.
  • Conduct initial assessments including recognising prior learning (RPL) on learners to identify focus points for learning.
  • Monitor apprentice progression and achievements by carrying out regular reviews, assessments and feedback, both with the learner and their wider management team.
  • Actively promotes safeguarding and wellbeing of all learners and the course delivery.
  • Support the apprentices with their functional skills development.
  • Promote the compliance of the engineering programmes by participating in the Internal Quality Audit process.
  • Ensure compliance of company policies and procedures, especially the Health & Safety at Work Act (HASAWA74), promoting good working practices.
  • Participates in continuous professional development, staying up to date with changes from the awarding bodies/ Ofsted, supporting with external auditing and quality assurance processes.
  • Participates in on site and off site events including careers events at local schools and colleges (STEM activities) and Corporate Social Responsibility activities.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support the Oakham and Blackburn Apprentice Academy, and other Amcor sites.
  • To act in the best interests of the Company and conduct yourself accordingly.
  • Any other tasks associated to the role A relevant engineering qualification or be willing to work towards level 2 and 3 qualifications.
  • Previous experience in delivering training would be desirable.
  • Able to deliver positive outcomes, work to deadlines and meet the required timelines.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm to develop apprentices and be a good role model.
  • Good IT literacy skills.
  • Willing to travel to other sites and work flexibly, a full driving licence is therefore essential.
  • Willing to undertake in continuous professional development (CPD). This may include qualification as an assessor, teaching qualifications, safeguarding and first aid training.
  • Must undertake a DBS check.
