Job summary

MCS Group is seeking an Applications / Support Engineer in Belfast or Linlithgow, offering hybrid working and a salary of £40,000-£60,000 DOE. You will support a global customer base, becoming a technical expert on designated products and working with development, product and sales teams to resolve issues and improve the product.

You will handle customer relationships, reproduce issues, provide training and create helpful documentation while contributing to product development and sometimes

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to explain technical information clearly to different audiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to customers, sales teams and partners.
• Reproduce issues, investigate root causes and work with development teams to resolve faults.
• Understand customer networks and testing requirements.
• Deliver customer training, demonstrations and technical presentations.
• Create troubleshooting guides, knowledge articles and training materials.
• Feed customer requirements into product development.
• Support occasional international customer visits and industry events.

Applications / Support Engineer
Belfast or Linlithgow | £40,000-£60,000 DOE | Hybrid

MCS Group is working with an established technology business to recruit an Applications / Support Engineer to support its global customer base.

The company develops specialist products used to test and validate complex communication networks. This opportunity would suit someone with a strong networking foundation who enjoys investigating technical problems, working with customers and developing expertise in specialist technology.

The role

You will become a technical expert in designated products, helping customers resolve issues and get the most from their equipment. Working closely with development, product and sales teams, you will investigate faults, deliver technical guidance and contribute to product improvements.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing technical support to customers, sales teams and partners.
• Reproducing issues, investigating root causes and working with development teams to resolve faults.
• Understanding customer networks, applications and testing requirements.
• Delivering customer training, demonstrations and technical presentations.
• Creating troubleshooting guides, knowledge articles and training materials.
• Feeding customer requirements and technical recommendations into product development.
• Supporting occasional international customer visits and industry events.

What you'll bring

• Knowledge of networking fundamentals, Ethernet, packet communications and network architectures.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• The ability to explain technical information clearly to different audiences.
• A willingness to learn new products and technologies.
• A relevant technical degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in technical support, applications engineering, systems engineering or test engineering would be beneficial.
• Python scripting, routing and switching, network performance testing or network emulation would also be useful.
