At NOV, we’re seeking an Applications Engineer to join our Manchester-based team supporting industrial products across the EMEA region. This is a pivotal, customer-facing role where technical precision meets commercial strategy.

About the Role

As an Applications Engineer, you'll be responsible for delivering technical and commercial solutions for our mixing technology portfolio—including static, dynamic, and high-shear mixers. You will support proposal development, equipment sizing and specification, and cross-functional project handovers. Your insights will directly influence design decisions and business outcomes.

We’re looking for a team-oriented engineer who thrives on client engagement and technical leadership. If you understand how smart engineering drives customer satisfaction and business success, you’ll feel right at home here.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical solutions for bids, including sizing and detailed design of mixing equipment (e.g., static mixers, agitators).
  • Translate client requirements into accurate proposals and cost-effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams during project handovers and kickoff meetings.
  • Evaluate supplier quotes, perform bid clarifications, and ensure optimal procurement decisions.
  • Support and contribute to internal tools, processes, and engineering standards.
  • Represent NOV in client meetings, site visits, and technical discussions—including HAZOPs and project reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with ATEX and PED regulations for hazardous area and pressure equipment design.
  • Maintain high professional and safety standards in laboratory testing, documentation, and workplace practices.
  • Provide regular performance insights to the Sales Director through data analysis and reporting.

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (Essential)

Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar applications or process engineering role (Desirable)
  • Experience in the chemical, process, or oil & gas industries (Desirable)

  • Strong command of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Understanding of industry standards and compliance (Essential)
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics and mixing principles (Desirable)
  • Awareness of ATEX and PED legislation (Essential)

What We Offer

  • A collaborative engineering environment with real-world impact
  • Opportunities to work on diverse, EMEA-wide industrial applications
