Job summary

Roc Search GmbH is seeking an Applications Support Engineer in Cambridge to join an innovative metrology and instrumentation business. The role combines applications engineering, technical support and hands-on testing of advanced instrumentation for the semiconductor industry.

You will work with customers worldwide, providing demonstrations, training and troubleshooting, and you will travel up to 50% internationally. A Master’s degree or PhD with relevant experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD with relevant industrial experience, ideally with scientific instrumentation and signal processing.
• Experience in a customer-facing applications/engineering role is beneficial.
• Familiarity with semiconductors, GHz TDR, Terahertz, lasers or optics is advantageous but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre- and post-sales technical support to customers.
• Process customer samples and deliver product demonstrations and training.
• Install, set up, test, debug and develop scientific instrumentation.
• Assist customers with data interpretation and technical troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to relay customer requirements for product development.
• Attend trade shows, customer sites and technical events; travel internationally up to 50%.

I'm currently recruiting for an Applications Support Engineer to join an innovative technology business developing advanced metrology and instrumentation solutions for the semiconductor industry. This is a highly technical, customer-facing role combining applications engineering, technical support, instrumentation, testing and troubleshooting, with the opportunity to work on some genuinely cutting-edge technology.

The role will involve:

• Providing pre- and post-sales technical support to customers
• Processing customer samples and delivering product demonstrations and training
• Installation, setup, testing, debugging and development of scientific instrumentation
• Supporting customers with data interpretation and technical troubleshooting
• Working closely with engineering teams to feed customer requirements into future product development
• Attending trade shows, customer sites and technical events
• International travel - potentially up to 50% of the role, sometimes at short notice

We're looking for someone with a Masters degree and relevant industrial experience, or a PhD, ideally with experience working with scientific instrumentation, signal processing and waveform analysis. Experience within semiconductors, failure analysis, GHz TDR, Terahertz systems, lasers, optics or robotics would be advantageous, but isn't essential.

Salary: Up to £45,000 DOE

Location: Cambridge

Travel: Up to 50% internationally - you need to be comfortable/eligible with short notice global travel.
