Job summary

Roc Search is recruiting for an Applications Support Engineer to join an innovative technology business delivering metrology and instrumentation solutions for the semiconductor industry. This highly technical, customer-facing role combines applications engineering, testing and troubleshooting with global exposure.

The ideal candidate will hold a Masters or PhD with relevant instrumentation experience, have hands-on problem-solving skills, and be comfortable traveling up to 50% internationally.

Qualifications

• Masters degree or PhD with relevant industrial experience, ideally with instrumentation, signal processing and waveform analysis.
• Experience in semiconductors, failure analysis, GHz TDR, Terahertz systems, lasers, optics or robotics is advantageous but not required.
• Hands-on with complex technology and solving technical problems while working with customers internationally.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre- and post-sales technical support to customers.
• Process customer samples and deliver product demonstrations and training.
• Install, set up, test, debug and develop scientific instrumentation.
• Assist customers with data interpretation and technical troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to feed customer requirements into future products.
• Attend trade shows, customer sites and technical events.
• Travel internationally up to 50%, sometimes on short notice.

I'm currently recruiting for an Applications Support Engineer to join an innovative technology business developing advanced metrology and instrumentation solutions for the semiconductor industry. This is a highly technical, customer-facing role combining applications engineering, technical support, instrumentation, testing and troubleshooting, with the opportunity to work on some genuinely cutting-edge technology.

The role will involve:

• Providing pre- and post-sales technical support to customers
• Processing customer samples and delivering product demonstrations and training
• Installation, setup, testing, debugging and development of scientific instrumentation
• Supporting customers with data interpretation and technical troubleshooting
• Working closely with engineering teams to feed customer requirements into future product development
• Attending trade shows, customer sites and technical events
• International travel - potentially up to 50% of the role, sometimes at short notice

We're looking for someone with a Masters degree and relevant industrial experience, or a PhD, ideally with experience working with scientific instrumentation, signal processing and waveform analysis. Experience within semiconductors, failure analysis, GHz TDR, Terahertz systems, lasers, optics or robotics would be advantageous, but isn't essential.

It's an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys getting hands-on with complex technology, solving technical problems and working directly with customers across an international market.

Salary: Up to £45,000 DOE

Location: Cambridge

Travel: Up to 50% internationally - you need to be comfortable/eligible with short notice global travel.
