Job summary

Infinitesima, Abingdon, UK, is seeking an Applications Engineering Manager to lead a growing team of customer-facing engineers. You will guide demonstrations, technical evaluations and deployments while aligning customer needs with product development.

You will work across mechanical, electronic, software and scientific disciplines, translating complex requirements into scalable solutions and ensuring a strong customer experience through to successful deployments.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a team of applications engineers.
• Ability to translate customer requirements into practical technical solutions.
• Experience delivering customer demonstrations and technical evaluations.
• Capable of troubleshooting complex systems across mechanical, electronic and software domains.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow the Applications Engineering team.
• Manage delivery of Early Access Demonstration programme.
• Work with customers to understand use cases and performance requirements.
• Guide customer demonstrations, feasibility studies and evaluations.
• Act as escalation point for complex applications and system issues.
• Support pre-sales activities, technical workshops and engagements.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Product to translate feedback into product improvements.
• Define and improve workflows, documentation and best practices.
• Help deploy scalable system deployment and customer success approaches.
• Influence future product direction through customer insight.

Overview

Infinitesima develops advanced metrology systems that help customers solve nanoscale measurement challenges in semiconductor manufacturing, materials science and nanotechnology.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead, mentor and develop a growing team of Applications Engineers
• Manage delivery of our Early Access Demonstration programme
• Work directly with customers to understand use cases, technical challenges and performance requirements
• Guide customer demonstrations, feasibility studies and technical evaluations
• Act as the escalation point for complex applications and system issues
• Support pre-sales activities, technical workshops and customer engagements
• Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to translate customer feedback into product improvements
• Define and improve application workflows, technical documentation and best practice
• Help create scalable approaches for system deployment, optimization and customer success
• Influence future product direction through customer insight and application expertise
• Support prioritisation where customer requirements, engineering resource and product maturity need careful balancing

• Communicating technical concepts clearly to customers, engineers and stakeholders

Particularly relevant experience

We’re especially interested in hearing from people with experience in:

• Semiconductor metrology
• Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM)
• Surface metrology
• Precision instrumentation
• Scientific instrumentation
• Microscopy or nanoscale measurement technologies
• Customer applications engineering
• Field applications engineering
• Customer adoption of complex technology solutions

Nice to have

• Experience working directly with semiconductor customers
• Experience supporting semiconductor fabs or process development teams
• Exposure to AFM, metrology, microscopy, inspection or other nanoscale measurement systems
• Experience supporting international customers and deployments
• Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes and workflows

Education / Qualifications

A degree in Physics, Engineering, Materials Science, Systems Engineering or a related discipline would be beneficial. However, we’re equally interested in people who have developed their expertise through apprenticeships, industry experience or a combination of technical and leadership progression.
