The Application Platforms Manager will be responsible for overseeing the management and optimisation of our application portfolio, including our document management system. The role involves ensuring seamless data integration across platforms, scaling our external DevOps function, and leveraging robotics and automation to enhance operational efficiency.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide second level support to the Service Desk and end users.
- Lead a team of application specialists providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management.
- Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, and external development partners to drive successful project outcomes.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
- Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance application management processes.
Platform & Operations Management
Application Portfolio Management & Software ITAM
- Manage and optimise the application portfolio to align with business objectives and technology strategy.
- Fully leverage our Enterprise ISTM tooling to manage applications as assets across the lifecycle.
- Conduct regular assessments of application performance and usage to identify opportunities for improvement and cost optimisation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritise application enhancements and new development initiatives.
Document Management System
- Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of the document management system to ensure efficient document handling and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate the document management system with other enterprise applications.
Data Integration
- Collaborate closely with the Data Management team to ensure data consistency, accuracy, and accessibility.
- Develop and implement data integration strategies and solutions that support business processes and decision-making.
Manage Development Partners
- Collaborate with external development partners to scale and enhance the development function, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and best practices.
- Oversee the implementation of development tools and processes to improve application deployment, monitoring, and performance.
Robotics and Automation
- Identify and implement robotics and automation solutions to streamline business processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Evaluate and integrate automation tools and technologies to enhance application management and support functions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for automation and drive initiatives that deliver measurable business value.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Act as the technical bridge between infrastructure, security, applications, and external vendors.
- Work with IT leadership on roadmap planning, budgeting, and team scaling.
- Support security and compliance initiatives, ensuring the platform meets governance and risk management standards.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree or equivalent professional qualifications in IT management or a similar discipline is advantageous.
- Certifications in relevant technologies or methodologies, such as ITIL, DevOps, or Agile, are desirable.

- Experience in scaling DevOps functions and implementing robotics and automation solutions to enhance operational efficiency such as UiPath, Blue Prism, or Power Automate.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy in all aspects of work.
- Ability to train and support staff in the adoption and use of new technologies and processes.
