Job description

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Accounts Payable Manager to join their team on a 12-month maternity cover. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop an Accounts Payable function in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team to deliver accurate, timely payments to suppliers, managing the quality of service provided to the wider business, and driving significant process improvement.* 4 days in office, 1 day WFH.

Responsibilities:

As an Accounts Payable Manager, your role will be pivotal in transforming the current purchase-to-pay process for efficiencies and keeping up with rapid growth. You will manage a team consisting of Accounts Payable Supervisors and Assistants, planning time and resources to meet demand and provide exceptional customer service. Your strong analytical skills will be utilised in implementing and monitoring controls, while your commercial acumen will help you think in big picture terms.

  • Full ownership of the Accounts Payable function
  • Manage the team to ensure accurate and timely payment of all invoices across various companies within the Group
  • Ensure open items on the AP sub-ledger are allocated on a timely basis, and monthly supplier statement reconciliations are completed
  • Assist the financial accounting team in monthly accruals and prepayments and work with them to analyse monthly spend
  • Work closely with Procurement to optimise both operational efficiency and process compliance
  • Implement impactful reporting to assist the senior leadership team
  • Create and maintain policies and procedure manuals

The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate for this Accounts Payable Manager position is someone who thrives in an evolving environment and demonstrates a desire to drive change. You must have proven experience leading a team through change, possess strong analytical skills, and have commercial acumen. Your ability to meet demanding deadlines, often with competing priorities, adapt to business needs, plan effectively, and coordinate tasks is essential. Excellent communication skills are required as you'll be dealing with stakeholders across the business.

  • Strong track record in a similar managerial role
  • Proven experience of transforming an accounts payable function
  • Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Knowledge of SAP ByDesign
  • Experience in implementing and monitoring controls
  • Experience of working in large multi-site organisations – property sector is preferable
