Job Description:

Your new company
I'm working on an exclusive basis with this global oil and gas business. Due to someone going on maternity leave, there is now a need to recruit someone on an initial 12-month FTC.

Your new role
This role requires someone who can hit the ground running. Sector experience would be preferred but is not essential. Core responsibilities include:

  • Support the review of excise tax returns for various countries across the EMEA region;
  • Assist with managing EMEA region VAT/Customs compliance for various entities;
  • Assist with managing and maintaining indirect tax and customs processes;
  • Support managing relationships with third-party service providers and tax/customs authorities across EMEA;
  • Advise proactively on excise tax matters to various business units (Supply Chain, Sales, Customer Service);
  • Stay updated on new tax and customs developments;
  • Review Account Payable (AP) and Account Receivable (AR) invoices for VAT relief and recovery;
  • Ensure timely VAT payments and resolve related issues;
  • Reconcile VAT ledger with reports and returns;
  • Support external tax audits related to indirect tax in the EU;
  • Provide ad hoc support to VAT team members as needed.

What you'll need to succeed
A background in accounting or taxation, with 3-5 years of experience dealing with European/EMEA VAT issues. Experience with customs excise duties and familiarity with Oracle and Excel are preferred.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, engaged, and able to solve problems analytically. They should be a team player, adaptable to international practices, confident in communication, and interested in developing further in VAT & Customs. Excellent English writing and speaking skills are essential.
