Job summary

Capgemini is seeking a senior civil/structural engineer to lead the design and verification of civil engineering works for buildings on the nuclear island. You will receive work from the team leader and produce comprehensive calculation notes and specifications.

Key tasks include coordinating CAD design, validating input data, and managing anchorage and fastenings in concrete, with emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of civil design experience.
• Experience in a design office environment.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
• Experience in the nuclear sector and plant layout engineering is advantageous.
• Knowledge of Eurocodes related to civil engineering and concrete design.
• Knowledge of reinforced and pre-stressed concrete structures.
• Ability to handle design and layout constraints.
• Familiarity with ANSYS or similar FEA tools.

Our Offer

This role involves the development and application of engineering practice and knowledge in the following technologies: Design of mechanical systems, devices, equipment and machines; installing and maintaining mechanically functioning equipment; simulating a wide range of interactions and evaluating performance in real world scenarios; and developing prototypes for manufacturability, testing and validation.

Your role

Activities to be carried out as part of the service: Ensures the production and monitoring of the civil engineering of the buildings on the nuclear island and proposes technical solutions. They will directly receive work assignments from and report to the team Leader.

• Receive, analyse and verify the consistency of the input data.
• Produce the deliverables for which they are responsible (assumption notes, technical specifications, calculation notes).
• Coordinate the work of CAD Design in conjunction with the Design Office Manager.
• Perform design activities for fastenings in concrete.
• Perform technical verifications of civil engineering documents for their building.
• Create and maintain the Design Risk Register.
• Responsible for anchorage design activities.

Your profile

• 10 - 15 years of experience
• Design office experience
• Knowledge and understanding of relevant Health and Safety regulations
• Experience in the nuclear sector and plant layout engineering would be advantageous
• Knowledge of the Eurocodes related to civil engineering and especially of the design of fastenings in concrete
• Knowledge of the design of reinforced concrete and pre‑stressed concrete structures
• Skill in dealing with design and layout constraints
• ANSYS or similar FEA tool experience
