Job summary

ASSYSTEM in Bolton is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead project tasks and deliver high-quality engineering solutions within the nuclear, marine, and O&G sectors. This role supports hybrid working, allowing flexibility with 1-2 days remote per week. Candidates should have a minimum 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering, relevant senior engineering experience, and be proficient in CAD software. Job Description

Join the Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit! You will join an expanding team to support the development and delivery of work packages for our nuclear, marine, and O&G clients based around our Sunderland office. The role supports Hybrid working. As a Mechanical Engineer your role will include:

  • Leading project tasks: Manage and plan projects for a team of engineers while coordinating with project management facilities.
  • Producing engineering solutions: Deliver high quality engineering solutions across a wide range of topics and activities.
  • Communicating progress: Provide feedback on technical development and project delivery to the Lead Engineer and Project Manager.
  • Mentoring: Offer technical guidance and support to team members, especially junior or graduate engineers.
  • Managing time: Efficiently manage your time to meet agreed deadlines, target costs, and quality standards with minimal supervision.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 2:1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Relevant senior engineering experience in sectors like offshore, renewables, nuclear, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Solid background in mechanical and structural engineering.
  • Proficient with CAD software: Skilled in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and/or Catia.
  • Strong mathematical skills: Experienced with MathCAD software.
  • Skilled in producing technical reports: Expertise in creating design and substantiation reports, assembly procedures, etc.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes: Understanding of welding, machining, etc.
  • Experienced with the engineering design cycle from Concept to Manufacture.
Additional Information
  • Familiar with European and Offshore standards: Experience with Eurocode 3 and DNV.
  • Master's degree is a plus.
  • Skilled in checking and approving engineering CAD assemblies and drawings.
  • Proficient in verifying engineering documentation: Manual calculations, reports, etc.
  • Excellent Finite Element Analysis skills: In-depth knowledge of ANSYS Workbench is desirable.
  • Experienced in non-linear and fatigue FEA: Familiar with DNV and Eurocodes.
