Job summary

Capgemini Engineering is seeking a senior civil/structural engineer to contribute to the civil engineering aspects of nuclear island buildings. You will receive assignments from the team leader and work within a hybrid model, applying design and verification processes to concrete fastenings and reinforced/pre-stressed concrete structures.

Ideal candidates bring extensive design office experience, knowledge of relevant Eurocodes, and experience with ANSYS or similar FEA tools.

Qualifications

• Experience in nuclear sector and plant layout engineering is preferred.
• Knowledge of Eurocodes related to civil engineering and concrete fastening design is required.
• Experience with reinforced and pre-stressed concrete structures.

Responsibilities

• Receive, analyse and verify input data for civil engineering projects.
• Produce deliverables such as assumption notes, technical specifications and calculation notes.
• Coordinate CAD design with the Design Office Manager.
• Perform design activities for fastenings in concrete.
• Conduct technical verifications of civil engineering documents.
• Create and maintain the Design Risk Register and anchorage design activities.

Our offer

This role involves the development and application of engineering practice and knowledge in the following technologies: Design of mechanical systems, devices, equipment and machines; installing and maintaining mechanically functioning equipment; simulating a wide range of interactions and evaluating performance in real world scenarios; and developing prototype for manufacturability, testing and validation.

Your role

Activities to be carried out as part of the service: Ensures the production and monitoring of the civil engineering of the buildings on the nuclear island and proposes technical solutions. They will directly receive work assignments from and report to the team Leader.

Responsibilities

• Receive, analyse and verify the consistency of the input data.
• Produces the deliverables for which they are responsible (assumption notes, technical specifications, calculation notes).
• Coordinate the work of CAD Design in conjunction with the Design Office Manager.
• Perform design activities for fastenings in concrete.
• Perform technical verifications of civil engineering documents for their building.
• Create and maintain and responsible for the Design Risk Register
• Responsible for anchorage design activities

Required Technical Skills

• 10 - 15 years of experience
• Design office experience
• Knowledge and understanding of relevant Health and Safety regulations
• Experience in the nuclear sector and plant layout engineering would be advantageous
• Knowledge/understanding of the Eurocodes related to civil engineering and especially knowledge of the design of fastenings in concrete.
• Knowledge of the design of reinforced concrete and pre-stressed concrete structures.
• Knows how to deal with the design and layout constraints
• ANSYS or similar FEA tool
