Job summary

Cranleigh STEM is seeking an Application Scientist – Analytical Chemistry in Hengoed, South Wales. The role combines hands-on method development with customer-facing technical support, focusing on analytical sample preparation, SPE, and LC-MS/GC-MS workflows.

You will travel within the EMEA region and collaborate with Sales, R&D and Product Development to deliver demonstrations, notes, and reports while helping labs improve workflow reliability.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' laboratory experience within analytical chemistry or a related field.
• Degree in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry or related discipline.
• Practical experience with SPE, LC-MS and/or GC-MS.
• Experience in analytical method development and troubleshooting.
• Strong laboratory skills and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimise and troubleshoot analytical sample preparation methods, particularly SPE and related techniques.
• Support bioanalytical workflows involving LC-MS and GC-MS.
• Carry out method development, testing and technical evaluations to demonstrate application performance.
• Work directly with customers to understand analytical challenges and develop practical solutions.
• Deliver technical demonstrations, presentations and application support.
• Collaborate with Sales, R&D and Product Development on customer projects and new technologies.
• Produce application notes, technical reports and supporting scientific content.
• Support development of automated sample preparation workflows using liquid-handling platforms.
• Travel across the EMEA region for customer visits, technical demonstrations and industry events.
