Job summary

LGC Limited is seeking a Senior Analytical Scientist to advance LC‑MS/MS method development within our Innovation team in Fordham. You will develop novel methods, optimize workflows, and generate high-quality data to support anti-doping and specialist testing programmes worldwide.

This role focuses on pushing analytical boundaries, applying Orbitrap HRAM and GC‑MS/MS techniques, and delivering validated methods that align with ISO 17025 standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• Significant experience in analytical laboratories.
• Strong LC-MS instrumentation experience including method development, troubleshooting and validation.
• Experience developing analytical methods and sample preparation workflows.
• Solid understanding of chromatography and method validation principles.
• Ability to interpret complex analytical data and communicate findings.
• Excellent scientific writing and documentation skills.
• Organised, proactive and collaborates well with teams.
• Experience in a commercial/regulated laboratory and ISO 17025 knowledge.
• Experience with HRAM (Orbitrap) and GC-MS/MS.
• Knowledge of anti-doping, sports testing, toxicology or related fields.
• Experience presenting findings to customers/external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimise, and validate novel LC-MS analytical methods.
• Design and improve extraction and sample preparation workflows.
• Configure and operate LC-MS instrumentation to generate high-quality data.
• Analyse complex datasets and support scientific decision-making.
• Lead innovation projects and develop new detection capabilities.
• Collaborate with teams to implement new analytical solutions.
• Transfer new methods into routine laboratory operations.
• Manage multiple projects with quality and timely delivery.
• Produce validation reports, technical summaries and project updates.
• Present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support ISO 17025 quality systems and continuous improvement.
