Job summary

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWAST) is seeking a Clinical Team Manager to join our station-based teams and play a key role in delivering high-quality urgent care across Gloucestershire. You will lead, develop and support clinicians, ensuring compassionate care and rapid incident response.

Applicants should have NHS/ambulance leadership experience, registration as a Paramedic or Nurse, and a commitment to quality improvement and staff welfare.

Qualifications

• Registered Paramedic band 6 or Registered Nurse Degree with 2+ years’ experience.
• Management diploma or equivalent demonstrable experience.
• Full driving licence including C1 due to operational command role.
• Evidence of ongoing CPD.
• Robust evidence of experience with wider health care system management.
• Understanding Ambulance Response Program KPIs.
• Organisational Development or Innovation qualifications/experience.
• CPD around Major Incident Management qualifications.
• Ambulance sector experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible, compassionate leadership and empower the team to deliver high-quality patient care.
• Ensure daily operations meet clinical and operational performance objectives.
• Lead Trust command provision for effective incident response and staff/patient safety.
• Support well-being of station-based teams and ensure they feel valued and heard.
• Work with education colleagues to drive education, training, and development.
• Deliver direct clinical care and provide post-incident debriefing to foster improvement.
• Lead investigations, handle complaints, and ensure learning.
• Contribute to Clinical, Quality and Cultural transformation initiatives and drive service improvements.
