You will deliver learning to secondary-aged pupils who benefit from a more flexible and individualised approach to education.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Differentiating learning to accommodate varying attainment levels.
  • Encouraging participation, resilience and positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Working collaboratively with support staff and other professionals.

We are looking for a qualified Primary Teacher who is confident working with secondary-aged pupils and is willing to adapt their teaching to suit an alternative provision environment.

You should have:

  • Strong classroom and behaviour-management skills.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, behavioural or additional learning needs.
  • The ability to build trust while maintaining consistent boundaries.

  • Confidence differentiating lessons for pupils with varied abilities.
  • The flexibility to adapt teaching strategies when pupils struggle to engage.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Experience in alternative provision, PRUs, specialist SEND settings or working with pupils at risk of disengaging from education would be advantageous.

  • Opportunities to work within an alternative provision setting in Tameside.
  • A chance to use your primary teaching skills in a different educational environment.
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to young people's engagement and progress.
  • Support from a dedicated Cover People consultant.
