We currently have an exciting opportunity as an Alarms & Security Systems Manager working out of our Reading, Kemble Court offices. This role is a great opportunity to join an ambitious Protective Security team with big plans for the future!

As the Alarms & Security Systems Manager, you will be responsible for our Alarm Monitoring Centre (AMC), which continuously monitors the security of our estate. The AMC is connected to remote sites through multi-face communications to CCTV, IDS, Electronic access control, Radio pad systems, ADSL line, etc.

What you will be doing as an Alarms & Security Systems Manager

The successful candidate will line manage the team of Alarm Operatives and engage, collaborate, and influence key internal and external stakeholders. Analyzing and identifying operational issues, implementing improvements to reduce false positives, and enhancing the AMC response effectiveness.

1. Take responsibility for the AMC team, which operates 24/7, 365 days a year.
2. Manage projects related to the AMC or wider security team, ensuring successful delivery.
3. Handle Risk Management of the AMS and respond quickly to incidents.
4. Deputize for senior team members and participate in the escalation rota.
5. Drive continuous improvement of the AMC operations and identify operational/process improvements.
6. Manage ID/access card requests for staff and contractors, following TW policy.
7. Maintain key relationships with internal senior managers and external stakeholders, especially with Operational Technology for strategic IT systems and security equipment development.
8. Lead a team promoting a security-conscious culture within Thames Water.
9. Ensure delivery of security KPIs and adherence to SLAs.

The role is based at Kemble Court, Reading, on a Hybrid working basis. Hours are 36 per week, Monday to Friday.

What you should bring to the role

Experience Required:

• Experience in a regulated environment, ideally within utilities, government, or critical infrastructure sectors.
• Expertise in physical security and related security systems.
• Experience in designing and applying physical and personnel security measures.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and influencing skills; able to communicate effectively at all levels.
• Understanding of security regulations, laws, and standards (e.g., SEMD, PSG, WUKSS, NPSA).
• Security Institute Diploma (Level 5) in Security Management.
• Active membership of a professional security body with CPD evidence (e.g., The Security Institute or ASC).
• Other recognized security qualifications, e.g., ASIS PSP.

The successful candidate will need to undertake a Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) before starting.
