Job Description:

We currently have an exciting opportunity as an Alarms & Security Systems Manager working out of our Reading, Kemble Court offices. This role is a great opportunity to join an ambitious Protective Security team with big plans for the future!

As the Alarms & Security Systems Manager, you will be responsible for our Alarm Monitoring Centre (AMC), which continuously monitors the security of our estate. The AMC is connected to remote sites through multi-face communications to CCTV, IDS, Electronic access control, Radio pad systems, ADSL line, etc.

What you will be doing as an Alarms & Security Systems Manager

The successful candidate will line manage the team of Alarm Operatives and engage, collaborate, and influence key internal and external stakeholders. Analyzing operational issues and implementing improvements to reduce false positives, thereby enhancing the AMC response effectiveness.

  • Manage the 24/7 AMC team.
  • Lead projects related to the AMC or wider security team, ensuring successful delivery.
  • Manage risks related to the AMS and respond swiftly to incidents.
  • Deputize for senior team members and participate in the escalation rota.
  • Continuously improve AMC operations and processes.
  • Handle ID/access card requests for staff and contractors, following company policy.
  • Maintain relationships with internal senior managers and external stakeholders, especially with Operational Technology teams.
  • Lead a team promoting a security-conscious culture within Thames Water.
  • Achieve security KPIs and adhere to SLAs.

The role is based at Kemble Court, Reading, with a hybrid work model. Hours are 36 per week, Monday to Friday.

What you should bring to the role

Experience Required:

  • Experience in regulated environments, such as utilities, government, or critical infrastructure.
  • Expertise in physical security and Security Systems.
  • Experience in designing and applying security measures.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of security regulations and standards (e.g., SEMD, PSG, WUKSS, NPSA).
  • Security Institute Diploma (Level 5) in Security Management.
  • Membership of a professional security body, with CPD evidence.
  • Other security qualifications like ASIS PSP are a plus.

The candidate will need to undertake a Counter Terrorism Check before starting.
