Job description

We currently have an exciting opportunity as an Alarms & Security Systems Manager working out of our Reading, Kemble Court offices. This role offers a great chance to join an ambitious Protective Security team with big plans for the future!

Role Overview

As the Alarms & Security Systems Manager, you will oversee our Alarm Monitoring Centre (AMC), which continuously monitors the security of our estate. The AMC is connected to remote sites via multi-face communications to CCTV, IDS, electronic access control, radio pad systems, ADSL lines, etc.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the 24/7 AMC team, ensuring effective operation and response.
  2. Lead projects related to the AMC and wider security initiatives, ensuring successful delivery.
  3. Manage risks associated with the AMS and respond swiftly to incidents.
  4. Act as deputy for senior team members and participate in escalation processes.
  5. Drive continuous improvement in AMC operations and processes.
  6. Handle ID/access card requests for staff and contractors in accordance with TW policy.
  7. Maintain key relationships with internal senior managers and external stakeholders, especially with Operational Technology teams.
  8. Promote a security-conscious culture within Thames Water through leadership and engagement.
  9. Ensure security KPIs and SLAs are met.
Location and Working Hours

The role is based at Kemble Court, Reading, with a hybrid working arrangement. Hours are 36 per week, Monday to Friday.

Candidate Requirements
  • Experience in regulated environments such as utilities, government, or critical infrastructure.
  • Expertise in physical security and associated systems.
  • Experience in designing and applying physical and personnel security measures.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of security regulations and standards (e.g., SEMD, PSG, WUKSS, NPSA).
  • Security Institute Diploma (Level 5) in Security Management.
  • Active membership of a professional security body with CPD evidence (e.g., The Security Institute, ASC).
  • Recognized security qualifications such as ASIS PSP are desirable.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake a Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) prior to starting.

  • Salary between £50,000 and £62,000, depending on experience.
  • Car allowance of £4,500 per annum.
