Position: Airworthiness and Safety Manager

Type: Permanent role

Location: Bristol

As the Airworthiness and Safety Manager, you will work alongside a leading Defence and Aerospace company that is continuously growing. You will develop and implement engineering policies and processes to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental engineering policies, processes, and documentation to ensure governance and compliance.
• Implement and oversee a safety and environmental audit program across all projects to meet contractual requirements in Def Stan 00-55/6.
• Develop project Safety and Environmental artefacts, including Safety and Environmental Management Plans (SEMPs), Hazard Logs, and Safety & Environmental Case Reports (SECRs).
• Work with project teams to establish statutory and contractual safety and environmental requirements prior to System Requirements Reviews.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend solutions to enhance engineering and business processes.
• Coordinate training to ensure safety and environmental engineers remain current and competent.
• Fulfill responsibilities for Airworthiness in a DAOS organization as per MAA Regulatory Articles 1014 and 5850.
• Provide airworthiness expertise and support to projects outside the scope of DAOS approval.
• Apply expert knowledge of safety and environmental management in Defence products.
• Utilize common system safety and environmental tools, techniques, and processes.
• Possess experience in the Defence and/or Aerospace industries and within the MoD acquisition organization.
• Hold formal safety and/or airworthiness delegation.
• Experience with the design lifecycle, design reviews, and compliance verification.
• Deep understanding of defence and aerospace design and development standards.
