Job summary

Manchester Airport Plc is seeking an Airfield Safety & Compliance Officer to oversee safe airside operations at the airport. You will coordinate with operational teams, service partners, and authorities to ensure regulatory compliance and a safe working environment.

The role requires experience in airfield operations or safety-critical environments, strong investigation capabilities, and the ability to manage incidents calmly under pressure.

Qualifications

• Experience in airfield operations or safety-critical environment.
• Experience carrying out accident investigations.
• Ability to investigate incidents under pressure calmly.
• Strong communication and report-writing skills.
• Must hold or be able to obtain CTC security clearance.
• Must hold a full UK driving licence and Airside Driving Permit.

Responsibilities

• Provide airside safety briefings and training to external contractors and staff.
• Act as liaison during disruptions or emergencies for clear communication.
• Ensure airside environment is clean and free of FOD.
• Undertake aircraft marshalling using ICAO signals as required.
• Monitor all aircraft movements for safe and efficient operations.
• Provide Follow Me guidance when required and address safety issues.
• Respond to incidents, collect evidence, and conduct safety investigations.
• Escalate findings to the Airfield Operations Duty Manager.
• Monitor wildlife hazards and implement Wildlife Hazard Management Plan.
• Supervise third-party operations to ensure safety and standards.
• Coordinate airside activities to support aircraft turnarounds.
• Respond to incidents like fuel spills and fires, mitigating risks.
• Ensure airfield operations continue during adverse weather with contingency plans.
• Manage airside projects and supervise contractors.
• Build relationships with airlines, ground handlers and emergency services.
