Job summary

MAG Manchester Airports Group is seeking an Airfield Safety & Compliance Officer to oversee airside safety and regulatory adherence at East Midlands Airport. You will liaise with operational teams, partners, and authorities to promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with aviation regulations.

Qualifications

• Experience in airfield operations or safety critical environments.
• Experience implementing operational procedures to ensure safety.
• Extensive experience in conducting accident investigations.

Responsibilities

• Provide airside safety briefings and training to contractors, partners and staff.
• Act as liaison during disruptions or emergencies for clear communication and resolution.
• Ensure airside environment and baggage docks are clean and FOD-free.
• Undertake aircraft marshalling using ICAO signals as required.
• Monitor all aircraft movements for safe, efficient operations.
• Provide Follow Me guidance and document safety issues per procedures and regulations.
• Respond to incidents, collect evidence, and conduct investigations.
• Escalate findings to Airfield Operations Duty Manager for action.
• Monitor wildlife hazards and implement Wildlife Hazard Management Plan.
• Supervise third-party operations to ensure safety and environmental standards.
• Coordinate airside activities to support efficient turnaround.
• Respond to fuel spills, FOD, and emergencies to mitigate risks.
• Maintain airfield operation during adverse weather via contingency plans.
• Manage airside projects and supervise contractors.
• Build relationships with airlines, ground handlers and emergency services.
