Job summary

QinetiQ is recruiting an Associate Engineer - Technical Author at Boscombe Down. You will produce high‑quality publications for installation, operation, maintenance and removal of equipment, following Technical Publications procedures and iSpec 2200 standards.

You will work with a team of Technical Authors to support both military and civil air systems, ensuring airworthiness and regulatory compliance while managing priorities and delivering documentation to customers.

Qualifications

• Qualified aircraft engineer or mechanical engineer or an equivalent level of know-how gained through experience
• General knowledge of aircraft equipment, systems and documentation
• Advanced use of Microsoft Word and Adobe FrameMaker
• Experience with S1000D authoring tools and CSDB operations
• Proficiency with CorelDraw for bitmap/vector graphics

Responsibilities

• Military Aircraft: ensure work meets customer specifications, Airworthiness requirements and MAA/MA M-P and D publications standards
• Civil Aircraft: ensure work meets customer specifications, Airworthiness requirements and CAA/S1000D/ATA iSpec 2200 standards
• Plan and prioritise own work to meet customer requirements
• Ensure work meets customer specifications and airworthiness requirements
• Assess compliance with MAA MAM-P & MAM-D and related regulatory articles
• Assess compliance with Civil Aviation standards (S1000D or ATA iSpec 2200)

Education

C&G or ONC/HNC in an appropriate technical subject

City and Guilds or equivalent in Technical Authoring
