Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Associate Director or Technical Director to join its Air Quality team in the UK. You will lead complex air quality projects, provide technical direction, and act as a trusted advisor on challenging commissions while driving QA/QC and governance across projects.

You will develop client relationships, lead major bids, and contribute to business growth within the public and private sectors, spanning infrastructure, development, transport, and energy.

Qualifications

• Degree (BSc or above) in Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Engineering or a related scientific discipline.
• Experience managing and delivering complex technical projects.
• Strong understanding and practical application of QA/QC procedures.
• Experience managing client relationships and developing opportunities.
• Track record of winning and growing client accounts, preparing successful bids, proposals and tenders.
• Excellent report writing, presentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of complex air quality projects and programmes.
• Provide technical direction across air quality assessments, modelling, emissions inventories and multi-disciplinary projects.
• Act as a technical reviewer and trusted advisor on challenging commissions.
• Ensure QA/QC procedures and governance standards are consistently applied.
• Drive technical innovation and development of new capabilities and tools.
• Mentor and develop colleagues across the Air Quality team.
• Build strong relationships with internal clients and project teams to secure involvement in major projects.
• Identify opportunities for growth with existing and prospective clients and lead bids and proposals.
• Represent WSP professionally in meetings, workshops and events.
• Maintain and expand an external network of clients and collaborators.
