Job summary

WR Logistics in Manchester is seeking an experienced Air Freight Operator to manage end-to-end air import, export and cross-trade shipments. You will book freight, handle customs documentation, liaise with customers and overseas partners, and drive accurate shipment records while maintaining high service levels.

Qualifications

• Previous end-to-end Air Freight forwarding experience.
• Good knowledge of air import and export operations.
• Customs clearance experience; CDS knowledge is advantageous.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience using CargoWise would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Managing air import, export and cross-trade shipments from start to finish.
• Booking freight with airlines and overseas partners.
• Completing customs clearances and preparing shipping documentation.
• Liaising with customers, carriers, handling agents and overseas offices.
• Providing quotations and following up on commercial opportunities.
• Tracking shipments and providing proactive customer updates.
• Completing costing, invoicing and maintaining accurate shipment records.
• Building strong customer relationships and identifying opportunities for account growth.
• Resolving operational issues and ensuring a consistently high level of service.

Location: Manchester

Salary: Up to £35,000 DOE

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced Air Freight Operator to join a well-established and growing freight forwarding business in Manchester.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a privately owned logistics provider with a strong reputation for customer service, operational quality and developing its people. Due to continued growth, they are looking to strengthen their Manchester operation with an experienced air freight professional who can confidently manage shipments from start to finish.

You will take ownership of a varied portfolio of air import, export and cross-trade shipments, working closely with customers, airlines, overseas agents and internal teams to ensure freight moves efficiently and compliantly.

The Role
