Job summary

Right Now Group in Sunbury is recruiting an experienced Air Export Manager to lead and develop the Air Export team within a growing international Freight Forwarder. You will oversee day-to-day operations, supervise Air Export Operators, manage workloads, ensure accuracy, deadlines and compliance, and report KPIs to senior management while driving continuous improvement across the department.

Air Export Manager - Sunbury

Right Now Group are recruiting for an experienced Air Export Manager on behalf of a growing international Freight Forwarder based in Sunbury.

The business handles a mixture of international Air Freight, including eCommerce, courier and time-critical shipments, with significant volumes moving across key global trade lanes.

We are looking for an experienced Air Export professional to take responsibility for managing and developing the Air Export team, ensuring workloads are effectively managed, operational standards are maintained and the department consistently delivers a high level of service.

This is a people-focused management position, with responsibility for leading, supporting and developing the Air Export Operators, managing workloads and acting as the main escalation point for operational issues.

Key Responsibilities of an Air Export Manager

• Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Air Export team.
• Manage, motivate and develop a team of Air Export Operators.
• Allocate and prioritise workloads to ensure shipments are processed accurately and within required deadlines.
• Monitor individual and team performance, providing regular feedback and addressing areas for improvement.
• Act as the main escalation point for the team, providing guidance and support with complex operational issues.
• Ensure the team follows company procedures and maintains high standards of accuracy, compliance and customer service.
• Monitor workloads and staffing requirements, reallocating resources where necessary during busy periods.
• Carry out regular checks of shipment files and operational processes to ensure standards are maintained.
• Support the training, development and onboarding of new team members.
• Conduct regular team meetings and communicate company updates, procedures and operational changes.
• Work closely with senior management and other departments to ensure effective communication across the business.
• Identify opportunities to improve team performance, processes and operational efficiency.
• Support the management team with KPI reporting, performance reviews and departmental objectives.
• Create a positive, professional and collaborative working environment within the Air Export department.

Skills & Experience Required for an Air Export Manager

• Strong experience within Air Export / Air Freight / Freight Forwarding.
• Previous experience managing, supervising or leading an Air Export team.
• Strong understanding of the Air Export process and general freight forwarding operations.
• Proven ability to manage workloads, prioritise tasks and meet strict deadlines.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Confident dealing with operational escalations and supporting team members with complex queries.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high operational standards.
• Experience within eCommerce, courier or high-volume Air Freight would be advantageous but is not essential.
• A proactive, hands-on management style with a strong focus on team performance and development.

Salary & Benefits for an Air Export Manager

• Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum, depending on experience.
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 18:00.
• Opportunity to take full ownership of a growing Air Export department.
• Work closely with senior management as the business continues to grow.
